A Meditation on Compassion

September 7, 2026

The Bible teaches that God is full of compassion and faithful in keeping his covenant promises to his people. In Deuteronomy 4:31 we read:

For the LORD your God is a compassionate God; He will not fail you nor destroy you nor forget the covenant with your fathers which He swore to them.”

Though this promise was made to Israel in the Old Covenant, it remains true for us who are in the New Covenant through faith in Christ Jesus because of the nature of God and his Covenant.

Our God is still compassionate!
He will not fail us!
He will not destroy us!
He will not forget his covenant with us in Jesus Christ our Savior!!!
This is because his nature has not changed and will not change. He is faithful to his people and to his Word.

That is who God is and that is how He functions and that’s the reason why we worship him, trust him, and call upon him in our times of need.
