You Must Take A Stand Against Evil in the Church
I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people-
1 Corinthians 5:9-13
10 not at all meaning the sexually immoral of this world, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters, since then you would need to go out of the world. But now I am writing to you not to associate with anyone who bears the name of brother if he is guilty of sexual immorality or greed, or is an idolater, reviler, drunkard, or swindler-not even to eat with such a one. For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Is it not those inside the church whom you are to judge? God judges those outside. “Purge the evil person from among you.”
If evangelical Christian leaders in the Anglican Communion, especially in GAFCON, cannot uphold the Apostolic faith in practice and establish clear biblical boundaries in the way they relate to heretics in the Anglican world, then we have a serious problem! Some GAFCON priests, Bishops and Archbishops spend considerable time with TEC/Canterbury Bishops and Archbishops and in their churches doing ministry or worship together despite the fact that they claim to have broken communion with them because of their heretical views. That’s very confusing and troubling.
Since we claim to believe in the authority and primacy of Scripture we need to ask ourselves how much of Scripture we are actually willing to obey in practice. The Bible SAYS that we must not have fellowship or even eat with Christians who are sexually immoral, greedy, idolaters, revilers, drunkards, or swindler along with those who defend them. That is pretty clear, isn’t it?! We really need to be sincere, straightforward, clear, and consistent regarding what constitutes ungodliness, heresy, and the nature of godly communion.
